Happy Birthday to Me Part Two

On the night before my birthday,  me and two of my best friends, K and S, and Boyfriend and Little Sister M went out to celebrate my birthday. I chose an awesome Sushi hibachi grill on the boardwalk. Have you ever been to Hibachi? Its AMAZING! I love all of the tricks the chef does and Asian food is my favorite! After dinner we hit up a local pub and I tasted my first raspberry beer. (its very very sweet!) And my new glasses made an appearance! My old ones were 6 years old and in much need of updating with school starting soon.
K and S
Outfit wise - I found a red suede dress at Value Village awhile back and immediately thought of Princess Kate (or just THE Princess as I refer to her in conversation). For the past year now Princess has been a HUGE fashion influence, and I upon seeing this dress I knew it was perfect for a chance to try and copyKate. Even though this dress was thrifted it surprisingly fit perfect like a glove! I've never been so happy with a thrited perchase. Thinking of Kate I wore sheer hose (also because it was freezing outside!) and nude pumps (but mine had sparkle!) I added a little bit of me to the outfit with a long detailed necklace and a leather bomber jacket.

What I wore:
Dress: Thrifted ($3)
Necklace: Thrifted
Tights: F21
Shoes: Target
Jacket: F21

The Three Amigos!!

We look pretty William and Kate here huh?

Starry Starry Night

Happy Wednesday!
I've spent the last two days doing absolutely nothing. I've enjoyed it quite a bit. I watched Our Idiot Brother, Stupid Crazy Love, and caught up on Gossip Girl. (Chuck and Blair need to end up together!)

These pictures are from when Boyfriend took me out for a hot date a Jimmy Changas. Its not a fancy resturant, we were both overdressed. But Boyfriend looked good and I got to wear my new shoes! Sister M took these pictures, sorry for the poor quality.

What I wore:
Top: F21
Skirt: Thrifted ($1.50 - holla!)
Belt: Thrifted
Heels: Gift from sister (Target)

Vest

This is what I wore today. I bought this amazing vintage leather vest in Austin last year at the coolest vintage shop. Austin has the best vintage shops. You can find the most unique things there. I feel in love with this vest at first sight.

I dont know about you, but I am crazy excited about Thanksgiving this week!! I forone cannot wait to stuff my face!! Even though I am a vegetarian, on Thanksgiving I still eating my grandmas stuffing. Yes, she puts little bits of turkey in it, but for this one day of the year, I dont care. Its the best. Ever.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I get to see all of my family, and eat and the Chirstmas spirit is just begining. Me and my sisters have the tradition where we all wake up and watch the Macys parade together while we get ready to go to our grandmas.

What are you most looking forward to on Thanksgiving??

What I wore:
Top: F21
Vest: thrifted

Weekend

This weekend has been spent doing the following:
1. Watching Breaking Dawn, which I thought was good, but not what I was expecting.
2. An Engagement party for Boyfriends brother.
3. Freebirds- the better Chipolte
4. Watching Bad Teacher- HORRIBLE MOVIE
5. Cuddling
6. Naps
7. Making a Veggie Pizza!! = fantastic (blog post on it soon!)
8. Spanish Homework
9. Paper for Tech Writing that is due on Monday
10. I went to F21 yesterday to buy a belt and attempt to buy a Christmas present - I had to leave the store. I was so depressed. I love clothes. and with NURSING SCHOOL starting in January, its best that I dont buy anything for a long time to help with expenses. Plus, its not like Im going to have the time to dress up super cute everyday. Its good and bad. Fashion is my hobby. and Im pretty much going to have to give it up for the 18 months Im in school. But its good because becoming a nurse is my dream (along with marrying Boyfriend and babies). Its just a tough situation.

How is your weekend going?
thank you for all of the lovely comments. Im definately feeling better now.
 :)

I wore this outfit last week when I went out with some friends for drinks.
The top was $3 thrifted and the pants were $10 from F21! yaa for cheap outfits!

Grandma Sweater

Last week I was Skyping with little sister and she totally called me out - "What the heck are you wearing? That looks like something a Grandma would wear". Me - "I got it at a thrift store"
Sister -"Good, it looks like it."

Shes blunt and hilarious and I love her for it.
This sweater vest is acutally really awkward. After reading New Dress A Day for over a year now, I've had the urge to wear a sweater vest. So I found this beauty for 90 cents. SCORE. The idea was to wear it over a button up. But I felt that made me feel like a blobbbb. So, I cut the top in to a V neck, folded over the edges and wa-la! This is what I got. It was comfy and cute and perfect for a cloudy day studying.

Thrifted

This skirt cost me less than a dollar. Thats what Im talking about people.
I love thrift stores. I cannot get enough of them. I could spend hours walking around searching for buried treasures. I usually end up spending too much. Its hard to turn something down when its only a dollar. But dollars add up to lots of dollars. I've realized this while cleaning out my closest recentely. I have a lot of crap. I have clothes from high school (4 or more years ago) that that fits poorly and is out of style but for some reason I can' t part with. I have my "skinny" clothes from when I lost weight 2 years ago but have since gained some of it back, so that section of my closet is currently being ignored. I have a TON of stuff from thrift stores. Some of it is stuff I love. Some of it is stuff that I like, alot, but only wear it once or twice and I hang on to it questioning if I will ever find the right time to wear it again. Or, some of it has not even had its glory day and is patiently waiting there to be worn. The bottom line is I have had a hard time cleaning out my closets and deciding what I should keep and what I should give away....

Do you have any suggestions??
What is your criteria for getting rid of clothes?

A Garden in Austin....

During our trip, we stopped at this gardening store.  My dad loves places like this. It was MANDATORY that we went. There was tons of cool stuff to put outside.

Like this chair:

                                                                      Or this swing :
(that we actually bought!) We had to drive the 4 hours home with this strapped to the roof of our Jeep!!!

What I wore:
Shirt: thrifted
Shorts: F21
Sunnies: F21
Shoes: Steve Madden

You may notice that this is similar to the outfit in my last post. Because it is. I wore this in the morning, got too hot and changed shirts.

Add a Little: Thrifting

Over the weekend I went back to my beloved Value Village, because I had a *wait for it*.....
50% OFF COUPON!!
Thats right.
It was pretty awesome.
but a million other people also thought it was awesome, and the store was super crowded.
I ended up getting tons of stuff I wouldnt normally have the cajones to buy, knowing I was getting it for a dollar in most cases. I cant wait to show off all of my goodies.
I did go a little over board... I bought 4 blazers... but I really love blazers...
I also bought this dress:
(WARNING!! before you look at this picture remember that we are in the middle of moving!! as in INBETWEEN houses. So all of my stuff PLUS all of my sisters stuff is crammed in this room. There for, the room looks horrific.)

But, here is my dress, Its a dark olive color if you look closely you can see the paneling on it, and there is a very light snake skin pattern on it.

But, the big question is, what do you think I should do with it? Should I get it taken in to me more fitted? Shortened?? Both?

I need your opinions please!!

Add a Little: Friday Night

"its friday, friday, gotta get down on friday"

What I wore: top: thrifted, skirt: Target

On Friday night I was put on-call at the hospital. Sadly, its not as exciting as it is on Grey's Anatomy.  I dont get cool pagers or anything like that and I dont get to run dramatically through the hospital when Im called. For me, being on call just means that there are not many patients on the unit and they dont want to be over staffed, so I stay home and make $2.50 an hour waiting around for them to call me.
So, since I had this unexpected time off, my stepdad decided we would have a girls night and he took my little brother out while me, my younger sister, my baby sister and my mom stayed home and baked cookies. It was a really great night even if it didnt last long. Thrity minutes later I got called into work...

taken by a 4 year old

she knew I was taking pictures so she started posing

What did you do this weekend??
